Le Lieu BBQ is a mock fusion restaurant concept developed as part of a collaborative class exercise. My partner and I were assigned two distinct cuisines – French and barbecue – and challenged to research and design an innovative dining experience that harmoniously combined these flavors. Through our creative partnership, we conceived Le Lieu BBQ, an upscale eatery that offers a unique fusion of classic French dishes with the bold, smoky flavors of American barbecue. Our concept aimed to bridge the gap between these two cuisines, offering guests a one-of-a-kind culinary experience that highlights the best of both worlds. This engaging project allowed us to develop our research, teamwork, and design skills while exploring new culinary horizons.

The Process

Our journey to create Le Lieu BBQ began with individual research into our respective cuisines, French and American barbecue. We delved into the history, techniques, and signature dishes of each culinary tradition to gain a solid understanding of their unique characteristics. After our initial research phase, we joined forces to share our findings and brainstorm ideas for the restaurant concept, name, and branding.
We embarked on a logo ideation phase, exploring various design elements and typography options that would effectively represent our fusion concept. Simultaneously, we experimented with potential names that captured the essence of both cuisines while maintaining a catchy and memorable ring.
Once we settled on the name "Le Lieu BBQ," we moved on to the branding stage, carefully selecting colors, fonts, and imagery that reflected the fusion of French and barbecue cultures. We opted for a pastel, sketchy color scheme that beautifully melds the artistic styles of the two cuisines, resulting in a visually captivating and harmonious brand identity.
Throughout our collaboration, we combined our individual strengths and ideas, ensuring that the final concept truly showcased the best of both worlds. The Le Lieu BBQ project enabled us to refine our research, brainstorming, and design skills while creating an innovative dining experience that celebrates the fusion of diverse culinary traditions.
